KING'S BASEBALL WINS 14-12 SLUGFEST OVER ARCADIA
GLENSIDE -- Andy French went
2-for-5 with thre RBI, including a three-run home run as the Kin's
baseball team posted a 14-12 win over Arcadia University Wednesday in
Glenside.
King's trailed 10-7 entering
the seventh inning and pushed across five runs to take a lead it would not
relinquish. Kyle Newberry led off with a double but after two
consecutive outs, Dan Buckley kept things alive with with a single,
followed by a two-run double by Geoff Ashton. After Mike Ranieri reached
base on an error, Jason Melendez stroked a two-run double to give the
Monarchs a 11-10 advantage. Jon Deroba and Jeremy Sauers then followed
with RBI singles to push the King's lead to 13-10.
The Monarchs would then add an insurance run in the eighth when French
singled and scored on an RBI single by Ashton.
Arcadia would add two runs in the bottom half of the eighth but
would not threaten in the ninth as Chris Persak shut the door to pick up
the pitching victory in relief.
Deroba and Ashton had three hits for King's while Chris Rispoli and
Jean-Paul Lucke had two hits apiece.
King's hosts Delaware Valley Friday at 3:00 p.m. and then again in a
Saturday doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
