WILKES-BARRE -- The King's baseball team held off a late inning surge to take game two and split a doubleheader against visiting Penn State Berks Saturday afternoon at Betzler Fields.

With the split, King's stands at 17-16 while Penn State Berks is at 9-22. King's fell in the first game 4-2, but won the second game 8-7.
In game one, Tyler Fleischut led Penn State Berks with two hits and an RBI. Dan Faith and Dan Skawski each added two hits and two runs. Kyle Svenkeson picked up the win on the mound going six innings allowing five hits and two earned runs.
Jon Venarchick had an RBI double for King's in the loss. Matt Livoy picked up the loss going seven innings allowing nine hits and three earned runs.
In game two, Venarchick led the attack with three hits including two doubles and one run. J.R. Graver, Pat McGlynn, Gracjan Kraszewski, and Rob Bergman each added two hits. Tommy Rozelle picked up the win going three and one third innings allowing eight hits and five runs.
The Monarchs will return to action Sunday when they travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a game at 1:00 pm.
