KING'S BASEBALL TEAM FALLS TO DESALES
CENTER VALLEY -- Host DeSales University broke open a 7-7 tie with
three runs in the sixth as the host Bulldogs posted a 10-7 victory
over King's College in a Freedom Conference baseball game Friday in
Center Valley.
With the win, DeSales improved to 13-13 overall and 6-4 in Freedom
play. King's slipped to 10-13 and 5-8 in league games.
King's score one run in the first and two in the second to take a
3-1 lead. In their first at-bats, Matt Feci walked and later scored
on an infield grounder by Matt Livoy. In the second, Gracjan
Kraszewski doubled and Matt Colgan reached base on an error. The
pair would eventually score later on another DeSales error.
After DeSales scored five runs in the bottom half of the seocnd to
take a 5-3 lead, the Monarchs knotted the score at 5-5 with two more
runs in the third. Livoy tripled and score on a single by Matt
Colgan before Eric Matula ripped an RBI double.
DeSales, however, would score one run in the third to take a 6-5
lead.
The Monarchs would plate two more run sin the fifth to take a 7-6
lead when Pat McGlynn and Kraszewski posted back-to-bck singles.
Matula would loft a sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI single form
J.R. Graver.
In the bottom of the sixth, DeSales would score three runs, thanks
in part by two King's errors to take a 10-7 lead. Neither team would
score for the remainder of the game.
Kraszewski led
King's by going 3-for-5 with two runs while Matula, Feci, and Livoy
added two hits each. John McNichol took the loss in relief of
starter Dan Jenkins.
Weather pending, the teams are slated to play a 1:00 p.m.
doubleheader at King's Saturday at King's Betzler Fields.
