KING'S BASEBALL SWEEPS WISCONSIN LUTHERAN
ORLANDO, FLA -- The King's College baseball team
evened its record at 2-2 as the Monarchs posted a doubleheader sweep of
Wisconsin Lutheran University at the Orlando Invitational, Orlando, Fla.
King's won the first game 8-3 before capturing the nightcap by s 7-1
margin.
In the opener. King's rode the arm of senior pitcher Matt Livoy who
pitched all seven innings, scattering eight hits with seven strikeouts.
Gracjan Kraszewski went 2-for-3 with one run and an RBI while Jon
Venarchick was 2-for-4 with one run and a triple. Matt Feci was 1-for-4
with three RBI. King's took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when
Venarchick singled and later scored on a base hit by Kraszewski.
King's held a 2-0 led in the sixth, but the Monarchs put the game with a
six-run inning. Feci would come through with a three-run single. After
Venarchick tripled, Ryan Knowles and Matt Unger delivered RBI singles.
In the second game, King's received a strong performance by freshman
Ryan Konopki who picked up the win in his collegiate debut. Konopki
pitched five innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on just one hit, He
struck out seven batters and walked just two hitters to pick up the win.
Mark Yankowski and Adam Depko pitched one inning of hitless relief as
the three King's pitchers combined on a one hitter. Offensively, Livoy
was 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and scored three runs.
Kraszewski went 3-for-4 with four RBI, including a two-run home run in
the seventh inning.
