KING'S SWIMMERS FALL TO WIDENER

WILKES-BARRE -- Senior Regina Schmerfeld posted a personal best in
the 400 individual medley as the King's College swim teams fell to
traditional Middle Atlantic Conference power Widener University Tuesday in
Scandlon Gymnasium.
The King's men dropped a 96-54 verdict while the Lady Monarchs lost 78-18.
Schmerfeld highlighted the King's effort with her career-best time of 5:45.03 in
the 400 IM.
In other women's events, Amanda Liotine was second in the 200-freestyle with
a time of 2:34.00. Carly DeGrezia was second in the 100-freestyle at 1:03.13
while finishing third in the 50-freestyle at 28.71.
For the men, Matt Herr won the 200 breaststroke at 2:26.59 and was second in
the 400 individual medley with an MAC qualifying time of 4:49.67. Evan
Macluskey (5:14.08) and Wes Hutchins (5:17.63 also qualified for the MAC
Championships in the event.
Scott Klabunde was second in the 200-breast stroke at 3:05.78.
Eric Kostuk was third in the 50-freestyle with a 25.56; Andrew Samoni was
third in the 100-freestyle at 55.85; while Evan Macluskey was third in the
200-backstroke at 2:25.82.
King's will close out the first semester of action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m.
matchup at Division II Mansfield University.
