KING'S MEN'S SWIMMERS DEFEAT DREW FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's
College men's swimming team posted its first victory of the season on
Saturday during a tri-meet with Drew University in Scandlon Gymnasium.
The Monarchs posted a 62-20 win over Drew, before bowing 65-29 to
Susquehanna. The Lady Monarchs, meanwhile, fell to Drew 75-5 and
Susquehanna 71-3.
Against Drew, Matt Herr won the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.27. He also won
the 100 backstroke against both Drew and Susquehanna with a 1:08.09
In the match versus Drew, Sheldon Broedel won the 100 butterfly with a
1:18.28 while Dave McBride followed at 1:19.63. Evan Macluskey won the
100-freestyle at 55.58, while finishing second in the 200-freestyle with a
2:03.87.
Eric Kostuk captured the 100-backstroke against Drew with a 1:11.33 as well
as the 50-freestyle at 25.03 while Wes Hutchins was second at 1:13.23
For the women, Carly DeGrezia was second against Drew in the 100-freestyle
with a time of 1:03.35. She was also third against each Drew and
Susquehanna in the 50-freestyle with a 28.72. Amanda Liotine as third
against each Drew and Susquehanna in the 100-backstroke with a 1:23.19.
King's will next host Lycoming Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Wilkes-Barre
C.Y.C., the site of the 2006 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.
