King's College appointed Alicia Kemnitz as the new full-time head swimming coach/aquatics director at the college on August 18, 2005

Kemnitz, a native of Williamsport, serves full-time as head coach of both the men's and women's swim teams at King's, while also creating aquatics programming at the college for King's students and staff, as well as children and adults in the Wyoming Valley and surrounding communities.

A 1998 graduate of Loyalsock High School, Kemnitz attended Hollins University in Virginia where she was a standout on the swimming team all four years of college. During her time at Hollins, Kemnitz was a two-time Old Dominion Athletic Conference all-star selection while setting three university swimming records.

While at Hollins, Kemnitz was also active in numerous college organizations and committees. She served as Student Government Association President as well as co-Treasurer. She also served as a student representative on the university's presidential search committee. Kemnitz also served as the student-athlete association chairperson.

Kemnitz graduated from Hollins in 2002 with a degree in history, compiling a 3.88 grade-point average while earning Summa Cum Laude honors. She then returned to Williamsport where she served as an assistant swimming coach at Lycoming College for the 2002 fall semester.

She would then attend graduate school at Old Dominion University where she earned a master's degree in sports management, posting a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in the process. While at ODU, Kemnitz worked in the university's compliance office where she monitored student-athletes' academic progress and eligibility while managing NCAA Clearinghouse information.

While at ODU, Kemnitz remained active with swimming, serving as head coach of the Manchester YMCA in Richmond where she planned and coordinated all aspects of the program, including writing and organizing all practice and workout schedules. She also assisted in the hiring, training, and supervision of all swim team employees and volunteers.

During the 2006-07 year, Kemnitz was inducted into the Hollins University Athletic Hall of Fame.

At King's, Kemnitz will look to improve both the men's and women's teams as she became the first full-time swim coach at the college. She has implemented a weight training program as well as increasing the amount of in-water training.  The results have been evident. In her first two season with the program, every swimmer on the roster set at least one new personal best during the 2005-07 seasons.
