KING'S KOPEC 6TH, WEIDWALD 17TH AT MAC COUNTRY
CHAMPIONSHIPS
DOYLESTOWN -- Senor Ed Kopec placed sixth and
junior Kelley Weidwald was 17th to pace the King's College men's and
women's cross country teams at the Middle Atlantic Conference
Championships Saturday in Doylestown.
The Monarch men finished sixth in the team standings while the Lady
Monarchs were also sixth in the event, notching their best showing in
MAC history.
Kopec, who earned first-team All-MAC honors with his finish, posted
time a time of 28:14.00 in the field of 95 runners in the 8K race.
Francis Eanes of Messiah was the MAC champion with a winning time of
27:04.36 while John Nastus of DeSales was third at 27:20.
On the women's side, Weidwald earned second-team All-MAC honors by
running a time of 26:05.07 among a field of 88 runners in the 6K race.
Other King's men's runners included Justin Winters who narrowly missed
second-team All-MAC honors by placing 23rd with a time of 29:10.08.
Derek Call was 32nd with a 29:49.19; Mike Gavlick finished 62nd by
posting a 31:50.
Also for King's, Brandon Sweeney finished 68th (32:54.10), Pat Sammon
was 71st (33:14.94), Dan Byrne came in 73rd (34:12.39), Jay Falcone was
77th (35:03.42), Ryan Glenn stood 82nd (36:23.44; while Vine Pecora was
86th (37:00.57).
For the women,
Tori Potasko was 29th with a time of 26:33.69; Heather Elphick finished
41st at 27:44.65; while Julie Dural was 44th with a 28:02.78. Rachael
Barto finished 55th with a 29:22.69 and Hannah Eckles finished 73rd at
32:37.84
