KOPEC 14TH AT LEHIGH PAUL SHORT INVITATIONAL
BETHLEHEM -- Senior Ed Kopec placed 14th in a
field of 270 runners to pace the King's College cross country team at
the prestigious Paul Short Invitational Friday at Lehigh University.
In a strong field of 32 teams, including several Division II colleges,
Kopec enjoyed an outstanding event, finishing the 8K race with a time of
26:26, trailing champion Tommy Pearson (25:45) of West Chester by 0:49.
King's top runners included Justin Winters, 117th with a 28:17; Derek
Call, 198th at 29:34; and Mike Gavlick who was 22nd with a time of
30:25.
For the King's women, Kelley Wiedwald was 162nd in a field of 239
runners, finishing with a time of 26:30. Heather Elphick was 176th at
27:11 while Tori Posatko checked in at 184th with a 27:28.

The Division I team race was held separate from
the Division II/III races. King's teams competed in the "Brown"
divisions.
