KOPEC THIRD AT DVC TO PACE MONARCH RUNNERS

Senior Ed Kopec raced to a third-place finish to lead the King's College
men's cross country team to an eighth place finish in a 19-team field at
the season-opening Delaware Valley College Invitational Saturday in
Doylestown.
Kopec ran a 27:25.90 in the 8K race, trailing meet winner Craig Donnelly
of Richard Stockton and Edward Penetar of Cabrini who ran respective
times of 27:02.11 and 27:03.16.
Also for the Monarchs, Justin Winters was 18th in the field of 152
runners at 29:22.67 while teammate Derek Call was 41st at 30:10.12. Mike
Gavlick finished 66th with a 31:29.44, followed by Brandon Sweeney with
a 31:44.76 in 72nd place.
Other King's male runners included Vince Pecora, 93rd at 33:31.26; Ryan
Glenn, 100th with a 43:10.59; Dan Byrne, 107th at 35:08.81; and Andrea
Mikolaichik, 111th with a 35:44.40.
For the King's women, Kelley Wiedwald was 18th in the 154-runner field
with a 26:46:53 in the 6K event. Heather Elphick was 31st at
27:32.34 while Julie Dural was 49th at 28:19.90. Hannah Eckles rounded
out the women's lineup with a 111th finish at 33:05.13.
King's will next compete in the Keystone Invitational Saturday at
Keystone College in LaPalume
