KOPEC EARNS ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS WITH 14TH PLACE FINISH AT MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

CENTER VALLEY -- Junior Ed Kopec earned second-team all-conference honors with a 14th place finish at the 2006 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships Saturday at DeSales University, Center Valley.

Kopec, who ran a 28:28.15 in extremely wet conditions in the 8K race, earned all-conference honors for the second straight year. Kopec was a first-team choice a year ago after finishing fourth in the 2005 MAC Championships.

King's, which finished 10th in the field of 14 teams was aided by Matt Hall who was 44th among the field 140 runners with a 29:49.77. Justin Winters was 59th at 30:33.98, while Derek Call finished 69th at 30:53.59. Also for King's, Matt Washo was 104th (33.58.36); Vince Pecora finished 111th (34:45.49); Dave Davis checked in at 122nd (35:32.06); while David Krupski was 128th (37:33.23).

The King's women, meanwhile, finished 12th among 14 teams. Sophomore Kelley Weidwald was the top Lady Monarch, finishing 25th among 132 runners with a time of 27:25.83 in the 6K run. Maria Demuro was 65th at 29:01.29 while Alison Taroli ran a 31:02.07 to come in 93rd. Also for the Lady Monarchs were Kate Musto who was 100th with a 31:58.70 and Julie Dural who finished 107th at 32:44.73.

King's will next compete in the NCAA Mid-East Regionals November 11 at Waynesboro University.
