KING'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNS WELL AT KEYSTONE
INVITATIONAL
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's cross country teams
opened their season in solid fashion as both the men's and women's
squads combined to place five total runners in the top 10 of both races.
Despite racing without top runner Ed Kopec who was nursing a minor
injury, the Monarchs placed three runners among the top-eight finishers.
Matt Hall finished sixth with a 31:38 in the 8K race, while Derek Call
(31:42) and Justin Winters (31:45) were seventh and eighth respectively
in the field of 72 runners. Vince Pecora was 32nd with a 35:46 while
Matt Washo was 34th at 35:47 to pace the Monarchs.
The Lady Monarchs were led by Maria DeMuro who finished third with a
22:01 in the field of 63 women. Kelley Weidwald was fifth with a 22:25
while Kate Musto finished 28th at 26:12.
King's will next compete in the Waynesburg Invitational Saturday at
Waynesburg College.
