KING'S CROSS COUNTRY WRAPS UP TRIP TO CATHOLIC NATIONALS AT NOTRE
DAME
SOUTH BEND, IN -- The King's College men's cross country team turned in
a respectable showing at the National Catholic Championships held Friday
at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN.
In the field of 33 teams, which included several Division I programs,
the Monarchs finished 25th. The King's women, meanwhile, were 32nd in
the 35-team field.
On the men's side, 265 runners competed in the five-mile race. Ed Kopec
posted a personal best when he finished 25th overall with a time of
26:17. Patrick Lyons was 120th with a personal best time of 27:48.
Justin Winters also ran a personal best with a 28:18 to secure 162nd
place. Other Monarch runners included Matt Hall, who was 219th with a
time of 29:29; Derek Hall finished 221st with a personal best 29:31;
while Matt Washo was 228th at 29:52. Rounding out the King's varsity
runners was Vince Pecora who was 245th with a personal best 31:58; David
Krupski finished 257th at 33:25; while David Davis was 258th with a
33:40.
The King's women were paced by freshman Kelley Wiedwald who was 72nd
among the field of 294 runners with a time of 20:06. Maria Demuro was
154th at 21:14 while Shauna Crabb finished 260th with a time of 25:09.
Jess Schillawiski was 264th at 25:34 while Sarah Rabeau came in at 277th
with a 33:00.
A pair of Monarch men ran in the junior varsity race. Robert Hare was
64th with a time of 33:04 while Ed Kilanowski finished 72nd at 36:31.
