DINOFRIO PLACES NINTH AT MAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College senior Chuck Dinofrio posted a ninth-place finish at the 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships Saturday at Belmont Plateau, Philadelphia.

With the finish, it marked the second straight year Dinofrio placed in the top-ten, earning first-team All-MAC honors for the second straight year.  Dinofrio had an eighth-place finish in 2003. 

His time of 26:52 was 1:41 behind first-place Macharia Yout, the 2003 NCAA national runner-up from Widener University.

As a team, King's placed eighth in the 13-team field which consisted of 127 runners running 8,000 meters.

Other King's runners include Ed Kopec who was 46th with a 28:44.  Matt Washo (29:31) and Patrick Lyons (29:33 were 62nd and 63rd respectively for the Monarchs.  Matt Hall (29:47 was 67th while Justin Winters (29:53) finish 70th.

Derek Call (30:27) was 81st; James Saur (33:12) finished 106th; David Davis (33:44) was 108th; while David Krupski (36:46) checked in at 120th.

The King's women finished 12th in the 15-team field which consisted of 124 runners competing at 6,000 meters

Maria DeMuro topped the Lady Monarchs with a time of  25:44 to place 35th. 

Other Lady Monarchs included Allison Taroli (29:03) who was 91st; Marybeth Clark (29:27) who finished 95th; Beth Curran (31:01) stood at 105th; and Jessica Schillawski (32:09) who finished 109th.

King's will next compete at the NCAA Regional November 13th at Allegheny University.
