MICHAEL S. URBAN, '96
Document Reviewer, Merck & Co, West Point , PA

While at King's:
o Mike was an active member of the Biology Club and served as a peer tutor for students needing assistance in a variety of courses.
o Mike's interest in the outdoors led him to pursue undergraduate research on the uptake and reduction of iron by a variety of plants, and the role of such functions as possible means of remediation of polluted streams due to iron deposits.

After School:
o Mike's research experience served him well, as he accepted a position as Research Assistant with DIVERSA, Inc., San Diego , working with a variety of enzymes in order to determine their suitability for use in a variety of applications.
o In March of 2000, Mike accepted a position as Document Reviewer, for Merck & Co, West Point , PA. His duties include auditing research notebook documentation, which supports regulatory requirements for products in research and development.

JUDITH ANDREJKO, '96
Deputy attorney General, State of New Jersey

After graduation from King's:
o Judy attended Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University , graduating with the degree Juris Doctor in May, 1999.
o Judy's choice of postgraduate education was prompted by her interests in the environment and the role of the legal system in its preservation and remediation.
o While at King's and Dickinson Law School , Judy was very active in a number of student organizations and served as an officer in a variety of positions within student organizations.
o While at law school, Judy spent the summers of 1997 and 1998 as a Legal Intern in the Public Defenders Office of Luzerne County, Wilkes-Barre , PA ; as a Legal Extern, during 1998 and 1999, she worked on a variety of projects in the Environmental Crimes Section, PA Office of Attorney General, in Harrisburg , PA.

After graduating law school:
o Judy served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Roger F. Mahon, P.J.Ch., Superior Court of New Jersey, where she researched and drafted memoranda on a variety of environmental litigation issues. She was admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey .
o In January of 2001, Judy was appointed Deputy Attorney General, Hazardous Site Litigation Section, New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety-Division of Law, Trenton , NJ .
o While Judy's career keeps her very busy in New Jersey , she is quick to tell people that "King's will always be 'home' ".

NICHOLAS J. RUGGIERO II, M.D., '97
Chief Resident in Internal Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA

While at Kings:
o Nick was a highly motivated pre-medical student who took advantage of every opportunity his undergraduate educational experience provided.
o Nick was a very active member of several extracurricular organizations such as the Biology Club and the Blood Council, which organized and carried out campus blood drives for the American Red Cross.
o Nick also served as a peer tutor in both Biology and Chemistry courses for students requiring assistance.
o Nick was involved in undergraduate research projects while at King's and was awarded First Place in the Thomas Jefferson University Sigma Xi Research Conference competition for his senior research project: "The Utilization of Bacteriphage in Conjunction with Antibiotics for the Treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Wound and Burn Infections".
o Nick also completed summer internships with physicians in the specialties of orthopedic surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.
o Nick was a Summa Cum Laude graduate from King's, received the Regina Award for the Senior Biology Major with the highest GPA, and the American Chemical Society Award for outstanding performance in the Organic Chemistry Standardized Exam.

After Kings:
o Nick went on to Thomas Jefferson Medical College , Philadelphia , PA graduating Magna Cum Laude in June, 2001.
o While at Jefferson , Nick continued his outstanding academic performance, receiving awards for his examination performances in Gross Anatomy and Internal Medicine Clerkship.
o Nick received clinical high honors in Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, ENT, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology.
o Nick scored the top 95th percentile in the USMLE Part I and in the top 97th percentile in the USMLE Part II exams.
o In addition to his duties as Chief Resident, Nick is also working on two research projects: one investigating the bleeding complications of utilizing glycoprotein IIBIIIa inhibitors (Ticlid) in cardiac catherization with subsequent Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, and another studying the effects of Sarcoidosis on the electrical conduction system of the heart.
o Nick still finds time to engage in two of his favorite hobbies: cooking and wine-making. Nick has said: "I know that I made the correct choice in attending King's College. And knowing what I know now, I would make the same choice again. " King's College and the Biology Department are glad Nick made us his choice.

ADAM ALBERT, '2001
Medical Student, Milton Hershey Medical School

While at Kings:
o Adam completed a double major in Biology and Spanish at King's.
o Adam was accepted at several medical schools and chose to attend Milton Hershey School of Medicine, Pennsylvania State University.
o While at King's, Adam was very active in extracurricular activities; one of the most notable was his participation in the AMIGOS Program, in Oaxaca , Mexico , as a Health Care Volunteer.
o Adam raised $3,000 in order to participate in a health care program for 2 months during a summer in southern Mexico . During that time, he was involved in setting up projects providing health education, public health facilities, and stove construction for cooking purposes.

After Kings:
o At Hershey Medical School , Adam continues to be active in a number of extracurricular activities, among them community service programs.
o He is a member of a student committee which initiated a Spanish Interest group for Medical and Graduate Students.
o Adam plans to return of Oaxaca , Mexico to study the effectiveness of the programs he began during his previous trip, and to continue his efforts for the people of that are.
o Adam will also pursue laboratory research in cellular/molecular biology at Hershey Medical Center during his remaining years of medical school.
